MRT questions about renewal through TMB

Welcome to S.T.A.R.

South Texas Associates of Radiology is dedicated to the clinical practice of radiographic imaging and to radiology continuing education. As fellow professionals we are unique in that we understand what both the new and the experienced technologist needs. We have over 110 years of combined service in the field, allowing us to take our seminars to the heights to which technological innovations call us.

Our Mission is to make continuing education for you as informative, convenient, and affordable as possible. All of our seminars meet the guidelines of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) for Category A credit. They are reviewed and approved by one of two recognized RCEEMs, either the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) or the Association for Medical Imaging Management (AHRA) for Category A credit. (See individual events to determine the RCEEM for the date in which you are interested.)

On 4/3/2017 the Texas Medical Board published new rules regarding the types /numbers of CE credits that technologists must accrue during their biennium. See the simplified version at: www.tmb.state.tx.us/page/resources-ce-for-GMRT The highlights are that MRTs are now required in a biennium to obtain 12 hours of instructor-led Category A or A+ credits; (LMRTs - 9); (NCTs - 6). These numbers represent half of the total biennium requirements. As before, at least 50% of the TOTAL number must relate DIRECTLY to ionizing radiation.
